Further on from our series of Pews from St Judes Church Southampton, our plan was to recycle and upcycle the fantastic mahogany wood the the pews were originally built with.
We were very lucky to get two sewing machine bases from the early 1900s. We have repaired and restored them and used salvaged mahogany from the pews to create the polished tops.
The tops have been created to look and feel as if they have always been this way but we also hope you find perfection in our creation.
The treadle bases still work and retain the wooden link arm. They have been stripped and then finished in satin black. We saved two of the original wheeled feet and have created two wooden feet at the other end. The screws are are brass and are new old stock.
Available to view in our shop at Robins Nest
The table measures 91cm x 58cm and is 76cm high
Our aim with the size was to make a breakfast size table to accompany the pews
