The Tuppeny desk is a lovely piece by Fork Handle Revival.
This is the first of many pieces of furniture being saved from the historic Southampton law firm Abels that we are “Reviving”.
This is a late 1800s oak desk that we have “Revived”.
The desk was stripped cleaned, rebonded and gently rubbed back to retain its patina. Ink stains and graffiti have been kept and a deep rich wax applied to give a very tactile finish.
While being an antique its is a practical piece as it has good width of over a meter but isnt too deep and imposing on modern homes with limited space. It would be ideal for a lap top or crafting.
The two drawers operate freely and the tear drop pulls have had 4 half penny coins used as backing plates which is where we got the name of the Tuppenny Desk from.
This is a well restored piece with lots of character and charm.
