Update
Pew 2, the Mahogany bench is now available, please see the last 3 pictures.
120cm long, we have taken a different approach to this bench over the first full Pew where we wanted to retain as much of the originality as possible..
With Pew 2, we have removed the varnish to get back to the natural grain of the mahogany and then oiled it. We have left the ends uncovered to show the complex carpentry of the young lads that built this in October 1955. We have put the back board on which still has its label as supplied from Israel.
We will be making 2 more the same as this and two without ends. Along with two tables using the Mahogany on Singer sewing machine bases. We have created a 4ft, Mahogany, Mid Century Pew.
Pew 1, Waxed and polished Mahogany Seat, teak side and pine frame. Very solid and of good weight.
Dated 1955, this pew is signed by the 3 carpenters and dated. It also has the label showing the wood was supplied from Israel Freshly restored and shortened to fit the modern home but we have recycled everything and made it look as if it had always been this way!
Taken from a full length of 13ft!!
The church was St Judes Wimpson Lane Millbrook
