“Briticent Grippers” Workshop Safety Lights
These lamps were once common place in every workshop. Early ones have wooden bodies and then later they were Bakolite and in various colours. The later models, around the 1970s, had dual clamping grips for larger sizes. We have also had the same type of light from the manufacturer Stadium as well as Briticent.
The Patented design “Gripper” is not just about the sprung clamp but about the way the power cable is coiled around the body. These lights were generally dropped on the floor and then dragged by the cable which could pull from its connections in the body, leaving live wires unconnected! This simple coil of cable stops this happening and created a true “Safety Lamp”
We specialise in restoring these vintage industrial lights to make cool and practical lighting for home and man caves.
We save all the originality while stripping, cleaning, “Reviving” and completely rewiring each one. Our lamps are not repainted as we like to save the patination.
We only use donors with good condition bodies, we polish and detail the whole lamp and we use period black and white fleck, 3 core cable.
They come fully PAT tested by our own electrician.
We have different colours and types in stock with the prices generally being between £45 and £85.
