Description

This is part of the collection of furniture from Abels Solicitors, the oldest law firm in Southampton. They have moved to new offices and didnt need the old furniture that we believe was salvaged from the blitz in 1940. Abels own offices were destroyed in the blitz and it would have been typical to claim furniture saved from other buildings.

This would have originally been a good quality Desk but became the posting table at Abels with the franking machine on it. This us where all the ink stains came from which we have left as very cool patina.

We have cut back the old varnish and dirt from 85 years of use. We have fed the oak and waxed the top. The original handles have been polished and the Leeds furniture stores label carefully cleaned. We have left the inside of the two, full width Drawers untouched for further originality.

This is a beautiful Solid oak table that is ready to serve another lifetime.
