Art Deco Metamorphic Walnut Writing
Desk by Maco
This superb small art deco desk dates from the 1930s, possibly a little later.
It is very much in the art deco style.
It was made by Maco and retains its original maker’s metal plaque inside the top compartment. The desk is constructed from walnut, some solid, some veneered over a wooden frame. The desk consists of a concealed metamorphic top section, which folds out to reveal a triple green leather writing surface. A pop-up correspondence rack and two original and inkwells. The central writing surface lifts up to reveal a secret small compartment.
Beneath the metamorphic top is a central drawer, flanked on either side by drawers
The drawers retain their original handles & two keys.
Overall, this handsome piece is in good useable condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some light scuffing and wear to the
woodwork as might be expected, and the mechanism works smoothly.
